About the role
Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Data Scientist to help improve how devices are identified and categorized using data-driven methods.

In this role, you will analyze large-scale network-derived data and design robust statistical and logical models that improve the accuracy, consistency, and coverage of device classification.

You will be taking full ownership of projects from analysis and design through implementation and validation, and will be expected to translate complex data signals into reliable, high-quality classification outcomes.

Your responsibilities

  • Analyze device behaviour and network metadata to derive insights that improve device classification.
  • Develop, refine, and maintain fingerprints and content used for device classification, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Investigate new device types, vendors, functions, and operating systems to expand classification coverage.
  • Apply data science methods (statistical analysis, machine learning, pattern detection) to identify gaps and propose classification improvements.
  • Collaborate with engineering and data teams when needed, while operating independently on day to day tasks.
  • Adapt analysis to customer specific environments when required.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Machine Learning, or equivalent senior level experience.
  • Experience with ML or AI applied to classification, anomaly detection, or behavioral modeling.
  • Familiarity with large scale data processing or cloud based environments.
  • Strong knowledge of computer networks (TCP/IP, DHCP, TLS, HTTP, ports/services, protocol behavior, fingerprints).
  • Data science & analytics skills: Python, SQL, feature engineering, advanced analysis.
  • Ownership and ability to work independently and own complex technical initiatives end to end.
  • Excellent analytical thinking and clear communication skills.

Competences

  • Autonomous, proactive, and comfortable solving open‑ended technical challenges.
  • Strong network foundations + strong data science skills.
  • High ownership mindset, capable of taking a problem from investigation to delivered content improvements.
