What is the role about?
About the Team
The Cloud Platform Services department acts as the central point of contact for internal stakeholders who require cloud or platform capabilities. The team works closely with various specialist groups — spanning private cloud, public cloud, application hosting, data environments, and reliability engineering — to design and deliver robust infrastructure solutions.
To improve financial accountability and operational efficiency, the organization is introducing structured Financial Operations (FinOps) practices. This function ensures that cloud services are designed, delivered, and operated in a way that aligns with business objectives, budget expectations, and cost-conscious decision-making.
 Role Summary
In this role, you will help bring clarity, cost awareness, and financial stewardship to cloud environments. You will collaborate with architects, operations teams, and financial stakeholders to manage, analyze, and optimize cloud spending across multiple platforms. The goal is to support informed decision-making and ensure that every investment in cloud services provides measurable value.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Insight & Reporting
- Track, assess, and report on cloud expenditures across all environments.
- Develop dashboards, monthly summaries, and spending forecasts for stakeholders.
- Identify usage patterns, outliers, and areas where savings are possible.
Cost Optimization
- Work with technical teams to uncover cost-reduction opportunities (e.g., better resource sizing, removal of unused components, commitment-based pricing).
- Recommend and help implement savings tactics while maintaining performance expectations.
- Contribute to lifecycle management efforts, including decommissioning unused resources.
FinOps Implementation & Governance
- Define and refine procedures for budgeting, cost allocation, and internal cost visibility.
- Support the rollout of cost ownership across teams and services.
- Assist in the development of guidelines that promote responsible cloud consumption.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with finance colleagues to ensure accurate budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
- Work closely with engineers to translate financial targets into actionable technical plans.
- Help stakeholders understand cost structures, pricing models, and optimization strategies.
Enablement & Self-Service
- Contribute to the development of self-service tools that include spending insights and cost estimation features.
- Improve visibility into the financial impact of service usage.
- Support automation of alerts and reporting for budget thresholds and cost anomalies
Profile Requirements
Must-Have Skills
- Solid understanding of cloud billing and cost-management concepts across major platforms.
- Experience with cost-analysis or cloud-spend tools and dashboards.
- Basic knowledge of cloud infrastructure components and their cost drivers.
- Strong analytical abilities and experience with financial or data-analysis tools.
- Ability to communicate financial concepts clearly to technical audiences — and vice versa.
Preferred Qualifications
- FinOps-related certification or interest in obtaining one.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting in a technical setting.
- Familiarity with internal cost-allocation frameworks.
- Experience working in hybrid cloud environments.
What Success Looks Like
- Cloud spending is transparent, predictable, and well-managed across the organization.
- Teams understand the financial implications of the technical choices they make.
- FinOps practices are incorporated into design processes and self-service tools.
- The organization achieves measurable cost efficiencies without sacrificing performance or flexibility.
